The man behind
GENLOC.NETWORK.
If you want to understand how GENLOC works, you have to start with Manfred Klöppel. He's the founder, administrator, troubleshooter, and translator between code and plain text—all rolled into one. While others are still wondering which hosting package to choose, he already has server concepts, licenses, and security strategies memorized and explains them in a way that even non-technical people can sleep soundly at night.

The first serves in the net
In the mid-nineties, Manfred was still a member of the tennis club, building his first club website (costing 50 marks and a case of beer) and discovering that he enjoyed HTML almost as much as a perfect serve. His introduction to the internet: OS/2 Warp and a printed internet address book from Data Becker. Google didn't exist yet, Yahoo was new, and finding websites required a genuine sense of adventure.

The X-Files and the early years of the agency
Shortly thereafter, the first major contract landed on his desk: an X-Files website for Fox Film Germany. Further positions followed, including one at berens/partner, at the time one of the top internet agencies with clients such as Mannesmann, Henkel, Deutsche Bank Private Banking, and Renault. There, Manfred led teams and learned how to organize complex projects effectively.

How projects became a hosting fleet
When the dot-com bubble burst, Manfred didn't get out, but instead deepened his investment. He became self-employed, continued to manage accounts such as Henkel, and began building his own hosting environment. Today, he manages an entire server setup with virtual machines, LiteSpeed servers, mail relay, backup, and firewall, keeping around 170 websites running smoothly.

03Mission progress
Milestones.
1994First HTML pages, beeping modems. Experimentation becomes a profession (or calling).
2000stIndividual projects evolve into a portfolio. The first extensive TYPO3 projects are created, and the company's own server infrastructure grows.
2010stWordPress and virtualized servers are becoming standard. The first LiteSpeed servers are finding a home, failover operation is moving into the engine room, and the first licenses are finding their way into the toolbox.
TodayGENLOC.NETWORK operates over 170 websites with all-inclusive packages and personal support. And the mission continues.
