VPS Hosting
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual server that allocates you permanently reserved resources such as CPU cores, RAM, and storage space on a physical server.
Technically, multiple virtual machines share a physical server, separated by virtualization software. Unlike shared hosting, other customers on the same physical server do not affect your performance because you are exclusively allocated a fixed share of resources. You typically receive root access and can freely install and configure software, which means more control but also greater responsibility for maintenance and security.
Example: An online shop with 2.000 orders per month books a VPS with 4 CPU cores, 8 GB of RAM, and 160 GB of SSD storage for around €25 per month. Even with 200 active visitors simultaneously, the loading time remains under 1 second because the resources are reserved and not shared with other customers.
Choose a VPS if shared hosting doesn't offer enough performance for your needs, but a dedicated server isn't quite necessary yet. If you lack experience in server administration, a managed VPS is a good option, where the provider handles maintenance and updates.
