Search intention

SEO & GEO

Search intent describes what someone actually wants to achieve with a search query. The same words can mean completely different things: Someone searching for hosting prices wants to compare, while someone searching for "hosting migration" has a problem.

A common classification is into four types: Informative (someone wants to understand something), Navigational (someone is looking for a specific website), Commercial (someone is comparing options before making a decision), and Transactional (someone wants to buy or commission something).

The crucial point: Google has already determined the search intent. You can recognize it by performing the search yourself and looking at the top results. If it's how-to guides, no sales copy will win. If it's product pages, no blog post will win.

That's why this check is at the beginning of every text, not at the end. Even the best content with the wrong intent won't rank, no matter how well written.
