Shared Hosting
Shared hosting is a form of hosting where many websites share a physical server and its resources such as memory and computing power.
The hosting provider sets up several hundred to several thousand customer accounts on a single server. Each website receives its own web space and database , but accesses the same processor and RAM as all other customers on that server. This significantly reduces the price, but leads to fluctuating performance when other websites on the same server have a lot of traffic—the so-called "noisy neighbor" problem.
Example: A private blog with 500 visitors per month runs smoothly on a shared hosting package for €4 per month. If traffic increases to 30.000 visitors in a single day due to a viral post, the loading time can increase from 0,8 to over 4 seconds because other customers are simultaneously using resources on the same server.
Shared hosting is suitable for small, low-traffic websites with a limited budget. If you anticipate increasing traffic or require consistent loading times, a VPS or managed hosting is the better choice.
