Featured Snippet
A featured snippet is a highlighted section of a website that Google displays above the regular search results and that directly answers a search query.
Google automatically selects a page from the top search results whose content matches the question asked and displays a text snippet, a list, or a table along with the page title and URL. Featured snippets usually appear for question-based search queries such as "what is it," "how does it work," or "how much does it cost." A clear structure with headings, short paragraphs immediately following the question, and bullet points increases the chance of being selected.
Example: A how-to article answers the question "How long does it take to create a website?" with a specific timeframe in the first sentence after the subheading. Within four weeks, Google uses this paragraph as a featured snippet, and the page's click-through rate increases by 35 percent, even though its regular ranking position hardly changes.
Formulate answers to typical questions from your target audience in a maximum of 40 to 60 words directly after the relevant heading. Use lists and tables where they make the answer clearer than continuous text.
