Email Marketing

Marketing & Analysis

Email marketing is a digital marketing strategy that uses emails to inform, advertise to, or engage customers, for example, through newsletters, offers, or automated campaigns. In an SEO context, it contributes to increased traffic by embedding links to websites and promoting user engagement. The first known email marketing campaign took place in 1978 when Gary Thuerk sent a mass email to 400 recipients.

Email is the only channel where you own your recipient list. With social networks, the operator determines how many of your people even see your posts. That's why having your own mailing list is a more stable foundation, even for small businesses.

Legally, there's no way around double opt-in in Germany: registration, confirmation email, and documented click. Regarding the numbers: open rates between 20 and 30 percent are considered solid for medium-sized businesses, as are click-through rates of 2 to 5 percent. A list with 400 genuine subscribers regularly yields more results than one with 4.000 purchased addresses, half of which end up in spam.
