Bounce Rate

Marketing & Analysis

The bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who leave a website after viewing only one page without any further interaction. In SEO and analytics , it's an indicator of content quality and web design, as high rates can point to problems like slow loading times; hosting affects it through server speed.

The bounce rate is often misinterpreted. A high value doesn't automatically mean there's a problem. Someone who searches for your opening hours, finds them at the top of the page, and leaves satisfied counts as a bounce. The number only becomes meaningful when considered in conjunction with the time spent on the site.

Here's a numerical example: A contact page with a 70 percent bounce rate and a 15-second dwell time is fine; the information was found. A performance page with the same 70 percent bounce rate but an 8-second dwell time is a warning sign. And a common technical reason: If the loading time increases from 1 to 3 seconds, the bounce probability rises by around 32 percent, according to Google's own measurements.
